Location 1 – DPS Lake view point ( Best for mornings since sun would be from the east and you are facing west)
Location 2 – Vanashree View Point ( Best for evenings when the sun is from the west and you are facing east )
Location 3 – Behind T S Chanakya
It gets busy here !
Stilting the flag
I went for all the blurry shots this time 🙂
Three major view locations as above. At all three locations, DPS lake, Vanashree & T S chanakya, you can walk around the lake. At Vanashree, there is a break in the fencing from where you enter to reach behind the lake. There are a couple more places marked on the map. See towards the East – SE of DPS lake. Couple of points across the drain towards the sea. We didnt check those points this time.
We reached about 4H before high tide and found no flamingos. But about 3H- 2.45H before high tide, the flamingos started to fly in to the DPS lake.
And after birding, if you want a quick chai and a vada pav, there is a chai shop right at the entrance of the Seawoods NRI complex 🙂 Another quick and fun trip with Sundar !
And someone posted on google, a pic of us shooting. The pic

Tide nuances: Typically 3H before high tide and (2- 4h after high tide ? ). The birds come here to roost during high tide is what I observed. So not much feeding activity. Then they probably would depart for feeding in the mudflats, after about an hour or so, after high tide.
Photo Tips: For me a 70-300 lens worked well. A longer lens will give you much less options for framing.
Another informative write up! Great job. Looks like you had fun. Still on my bucket list.
