Today was supposed to be a a new route …via a boat thru the Airoli mangroves. The tide was out at 8 A.M and when Rakesh and I reached the place there was no boatman either. A mobile call to Girish Vaze and we got the mobile number of the boatman ( talk of this country pretty much “running on” and “because of” the mobile network !). When we asked which boat, the boatman pointed to us a rather beaten up wooden boat which was beached. The boat looked like a relic and not something that might have actually sailed ! Manju mentioned that to me and I asked the boatman if that relic actually sailed ..and..not surprisingly, he didnt like that question one bit ! I then qualified my question by showing him the splayed bow of the boat where the planks were “springing out” of, what should’ve been a nice n tight bow. He mumbled about doing some repairs. Suddenly, Manju was least interested in the boat. The tide would be high enough only by 10 A.M for the boat to cast off, sand hence, we decided to potter around Airoli and find a few gulls, mostly expecting pretty much a wash out day. Gulls we did find and, we finally took out our cameras for the first time this year 🙂 . I had not been shooting much the last few months and, it felt seriously good to get behind the viewfinder once again 🙂

Nice Gulls ! TC seems to work perfectly, I miss the Velvia Touch though 😉
How much the boat cost for the ride to you? how long was the ride?
I didnt take the boat since it was late and , it was under repairs.
