Zero Flamingoes :- ( Sewree - 11 Feb 2007 )
I was at Sewree about three hours before high tide. High tide was at 1830 approx and we reached there by 1500H.
First scouted behind the Colgate factory…nothing at all. All the birds were towards Mahul side..too far to do any photography..or even identify. Then we moved to the jetty area.
Some boys were fishing for crabs. The odd tern flew past and also a few pariah kites. We saw a sandpiper, a pond heron, the little egret, a few godwits…and the rest, were too far off for any worthwhile id. No sight of the flamingoes at all. I thought there was a small patch of pink ..a few 5-8 birds (flamingoes) towards the Mahul side but, they were too far away to get a good Id.
Here is a comparison shot one taken in April 2005 with more than 20000+ flamingoes and, the other today February 2007 with zero flamingoes
Wonder if the BNHS guys have any idea why the flamingoes did not turn up this year ? So I first got a shot of the rusty side of a barge.
Then a tern flew past and I got a practice shot off, with the Sigma mounted on the Wimberly Head.
Then I spotted a sparrow on a boat nearby and got this one…. for the road. No flamingoes..will shoot sparrows!

Last week I had to visit Beijing on work. It was a super cold minus five degree celsius. Try as I might I did not get time off to take much photographs. But, I did manage to get to Tianamen Square, for about an hour at lunch.
And the Beijing Olympic countdown clock
And finally a view after work on the last day right below my office in Beijing. All at ISO 640

Hot Photo Tip: Best time to photograph the Tianamen Square is probably in the evenings which is when to evening sun lights up the square.
